Chapter 20
After a month living as ordinary citizens, Archer and Anka reunite with Sol and accept an invitation to a public interview. Before a vast virtual audience, Trinity's three founders reflect on their civilization's achievements, its restrictions, and the meaning of a good life. Archer questions the wisdom of commandments based on his intuition, while Anka challenges the unequal rights of artificial people. Sol explains the value of existence factor and defends Trinity's social arrangements. All three celebrate their civilization's independence, but their final answers reveal a difference: unlike Archer and Anka, Sol would gladly govern again.
Chapter 21
Archer and Sol accompany Anka to Ramman, where she hopes to defend her friend, Baroness Fridiana Otu, at trial. But the judge rejects Anka's testimony because their friendship dates back four centuries. When Fridiana receives a life sentence, Anka falls into despair. After a week of isolation, she decides to escape to a world where she can once again feel needed. Archer and Sol agree to accompany her. Learning from past disasters, they prepare magical safeguards, weapons, translators, and flying motorcycles. Fully equipped, the three companions gather at the spaceport to open a portal into the unknown.
Chapter 22
Archer, Anka, and Sol enter a new world, where they encounter an approaching army and its ambassador, Dola Ray. She escorts them to Pogrimar, capital of Arkonia, where they meet the blind King Akbert. The king reveals that his kingdom faces extermination by the Dreurgs, a powerful race immune to magic. With an invasion expected in two years, Arkonia is desperately constructing a defensive fleet. Although the travelers possess the means to intervene, they hesitate to commit themselves to another war. Instead, they decide to explore this unfamiliar world and understand its inhabitants before choosing whether to help.
Chapter 23
Archer, Anka, and Sol travel to Holika to investigate the Dreurgs. After learning of their brutality from a halfling villager, Sol approaches a Dreurg camp alone. He earns their respect through combat and discovers the true reason behind their genocidal campaign: a prophecy warning that a human magician will destroy all life. The Dreurgs believe exterminating humanity is the safest way to prevent catastrophe, but agree to abandon their invasion if the chosen one is removed from their world. Troubled by this revelation, the companions decide to investigate the prophecy before choosing how to intervene.
Chapter 24
Returning to Arkonia, Archer, Anka, and Sol reveal the Dreurg prophecy to King Akbert and arrange diplomatic contact with Trinity. Hoping to learn more, they seek the mysterious Erians, enlisting their old friend Marv Galsius, who has spent centuries retreating into virtual reality. Their invitation gives him renewed purpose. Together, the four travelers reach northern Dalektis, where Sol communicates with the Stonewalkers—intelligent beings made of living rock. The Stonewalkers reveal that the Dreurgs misunderstand the voice guiding them. Its source is the earth itself, and its prophecy concerns a mysterious being called the Last Catalyst.
Chapter 25
Seeking the prophesied magician, Archer and his companions return to Arkonia and consult Master Kronveld, the royal archmage. After witnessing the brush's extraordinary powers, Kronveld agrees to guide them into the magical dimension. Archer enters first, discovering a luminous realm where magical power manifests as light—and his brush shines brighter than the archmage himself. Warned of dangerous spirits that consume consciousness, Archer returns for Anka, Sol, and Galsius. But moments after all four enter the realm, a catastrophic attack overwhelms them. Blinded by light and consumed by unbearable heat, Archer realizes his arms are gone.
Chapter 26
Archer awakens in Trinity after the disastrous attack in the magical dimension. Anka survives, badly burned, but Sol and Galsius are presumed dead. Evidence implicates Master Kronveld, while Archer faces prosecution for endangering his companions. Amid their grief, Archer and Anka receive an unexpected call from Sol—or rather, a backup copy created before the catastrophe. Although the original Sol is gone, his duplicate possesses nearly all his memories and offers to rejoin them. Struggling with questions of identity and loss, Archer and Anka welcome their friend back in a new robotic body.
Chapter 27
Determined to uncover the truth about Kronveld's attack, Archer, Anka, and Sol consider returning to Arkonia but decide on a safer approach. Meanwhile, Archer stands trial in Trinity for endangering his companions. The prosecution exposes weaknesses in his expedition's safety precautions, but the judge ultimately acquits him. Anka receives a robotic prosthesis to replace her lost arm, while Sol prepares new equipment for their journey. With diplomatic relations severed and Galsius's fate uncertain, the companions resolve to investigate the attack indirectly. They open a portal to Frinian, hoping to find answers and rescue their missing friend.
Chapter 28
Archer, Anka, and Sol arrive in the Kingdom of Mar, where King Gelberd reveals that Kronveld has accused them of attacking him. After demonstrating Trinity's superior weapons, they persuade Gelberd to establish diplomatic relations. The king then reveals a darker truth: Arkonia's shipbuilding campaign threatens the forest elves with extinction, while a mysterious assassination attempt left King Akbert blind and his family dead. Suspecting a connection to Kronveld, the companions decide to investigate. Sol departs to contact the elves, while Archer and Anka prepare to return to Trinity with Mailik, a young apprentice who will teach them magic.
Chapter 29
Archer arranges diplomatic contact between Trinity and Mar while he and Anka begin studying magic under Mailik. Sol returns from Arkonia, confirming that the forest elves, known as Lilians, face imminent extermination. Mailik reveals their immunity to magic and raises doubts about Kronveld's involvement in the deadly attack. The companions also discover that Ankarian lacks sufficient mana for magical training. Seeking better instruction and protection, they decide to visit Mos, an ancient monastery renowned for its magical expertise. Upon arriving on the rain-soaked island, they are greeted by a mysterious voice claiming to have expected them.
Chapter 30
At the monastery of Mos, the companions meet Dumo, its mysterious living spirit. Archer and Mailik become monks, while Anka studies alchemy and Sol explores magical history. Guided by the monastery's collective consciousness, Archer masters his first spell after more than a month of relentless practice. Meanwhile, Trinity intervenes to protect the forest elves, battling Arkonian forces and fighting devastating forest fires. Learning that his civilization can act independently, Archer feels proud but remains committed to preparing for the Dreurg invasion. He begins studying powerful defensive magic, determined to confront Kronveld without abandoning his responsibilities to the outside world.
Chapter 31
Sol uncovers a terrifying possibility: Kronveld may be manipulating Arkonia to eliminate the Lilians and Dreurgs, restoring higher magic and enabling a ritual capable of destroying all life on Planet. To investigate, Archer creates the Shard of Cosmic Providence and uses it from Mos's inexhaustible mana well. Observing Kronveld through the magical and spiritual dimensions, he discovers countless spiritual connections converging upon the archmage. One unusually bright thread leads upward toward an unknown presence. When Archer attempts to see where it leads, excruciating pain strikes his eyes. Moments later, he realizes he has gone blind.
Chapter 32
Blinded by a mysterious supernatural force, Archer discovers that even death and resurrection cannot restore his sight. Dumo examines his memories and identifies the terrifying presence of a Dragon, an ancient being capable of consuming entire worlds. Hoping to avert catastrophe, Archer and Sol offer Kronveld three hundred billion units of existence factor. During negotiations, Kronveld admits his crimes and releases Princess Vidya. But learning that his supposed divine benefactor is actually a Dragon drives him into a frenzy. He attacks the companions, only to be subdued by Sol. They escape to Mos, taking Kronveld prisoner.
Chapter 33
The Dragon arrives at Mos, revealing that she has been masquerading as Dola Ray. Grateful for the souls Archer provided, she agrees to spare Planet but intends to prey upon other worlds. Refusing to accept this, Archer invites her to join his companions and pursue creation rather than destruction. The Dragon tests his resolve by revealing her terrifying true form, but Archer overcomes his fear and approaches her. Impressed by his courage and his belief that living can accomplish more than dying heroically, she accepts his invitation, becoming the group's extraordinary and unpredictable fourth companion.
Chapter 34
Kronveld is tried and sentenced to life imprisonment in the Four Crowns. Archer and his companions establish their group's name: the Ray. They reunite King Akbert with Vidya, secure peace for the Lilians, restore diplomatic relations with Trinity, and confirm that the Dreurg invasion has been abandoned. With Planet's immediate crisis resolved, Archer longs to explore another world. But Anka, Sol, and Dola Ray persuade him to rest for a year while his sight recovers. Reflecting on his extraordinary journey, Archer realizes he has found his purpose: using his magical gift to help entire worlds.
